The Internal Method

Train what people can't see.

A live performance system for athletes and coaches built from more than two decades inside elite taekwondo competition.

The fight starts
before the first kick.

Technique matters. But competition is also decided by what happens before the action: how you read distance, respond to pressure, manage mistakes, make decisions and trust yourself when everything moves fast.

The Internal Method connects the mental and tactical sides of competition with what actually happens inside the ring.

Portrait of Carolena
to be added

Built from experience.

The Internal Method was created by Carolena Carstens, a two-time Olympic taekwondo athlete who began competing internationally at a young age and spent more than two decades learning what separates training from performing when it matters.

Her experience includes competing at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games and throughout the international taekwondo circuit.

The system brings together lessons from competition, preparation, setbacks, pressure, tactical development and years of learning how to compete against different styles of athletes.

This is not about copying Carolena's fighting style. It is about learning how to understand and build your own.
